KUPISA Lugu-Peri Sauce was founded in 2019 as a cooking hobby in a home kitchen, people liked the sauce and demand kept growing. Eventually we decided to do a full market review before we embarked on a modernized commercial production process. To become an international peri-peri sauce brand with solid African roots. Our biggest differentiator being our raw organic Lugu-herb. We are currently distributing approximately 2250 units monthly and growing.

It is for that reason we procure over 100% of our herb from local producers.
Moreover, we have mutually beneficial profit-sharing agreements with our distributors / associates.

QUALITY

It took 3 years of research and development before the product was officially launched to the general public.
This wild herb belongs to the to the plant genus called Momordica. It is a climbing vine native to Africa, it is very similar to bitter melon.
The leaves of the herb triangulate in shape and the herb itself has a bitter taste.
The herb is harvested through a process that entails cutting of leaves with a pair of garden scissors.
The plant grows in both large forests and cultivated land. In South Africa, the herb easily grow in the warmer parts of Limpopo during the summer season.
The leaves are then kept to dry through exposure to open sun. Once the leaves turn dry, the herb leaves are hand crushed into a powder.
For the purpose of Kupisa production, we have production agreements with 4 Lugu Harvesters. Each of the Harvesters own orchards where the herb grows in a controlled environment.

Currently exploring markets in Southern Africa such as Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia & Namibia.

We are also in discussion with some German distributors who have shown genuine interest after testing our product few weeks ago.

KUPISA LUGU PERI SAUCE

The sauce is produced at our state of art plant in Gauteng at a facility that manufactures table sauces for multiple brands for both local and international
markets. The production plant is both Kosher and Halaal approved and it complies with the necessary regulation for food production.

Being a proudly South African product, we own and manage the product life-cycle from preparation, packaging right to marketing and distribution and working on availability in major local chain stores and neighbouring countries. Currently, we are producing both Mild and Hot alternatives.

While our business grows, we would like to see our communities being uplifted and economically empowered as a result of our growing business. It is for that
reason we procure over 80% of our ingredients from local producers and we maintain a mutually benecial prot share arrangement with our Distributing
Associates.
